NFL Power Rankings: Week 8

00 H By Buck Kincaid Hizzle's Football Expert, Tuesday, Oct 27, 2026

Week 8 is here, the wings are hot, and the recliner is fully reclined. The Vikings are the only unbeaten team left and the Chargers are the only winless one. Minnesota heads to Detroit, so I'm not moving off this couch.

  1. 1 ▲2

6-0, W6, and the only unbeaten team in the league. Kyler Murray and company keep winning ugly, 16-10 over Indy last time. Now they go to Detroit. Wings are ready.

  2. 2 ▼1

6-1 with the best point differential in the league at +58. The ATL loss stung, but the run D is 5th at 89.0 yards a game. Bye week means more wings for me, rest for them.

  3. 3 ▲1
    Buffalo Bills 5-1

5-1 and Josh Allen keeps dragging shootouts across the finish line. Run D is a middling 15th at 101.0 a game, so Baltimore comes to town with a plan. Fun to watch, scary to sweat.

  4. 4 ▲2
    Chicago Bears 5-2

5-2, +37, and the run D is 3rd at 87.6 yards a game. If you can't stop the run, you can't win, and the Bears can stop it. Beat NE 30-24 last week. Seattle on Monday is a real test.

  5. 5 ▼3

5-1, but that 3-20 loss at Seattle was a cold wing of a game. Still +40 on the year. Mahomes heads to Denver to fix it. I threw a remote at that one.

  6. 6 ▼1

4-2, +50, and the run D is 1st at 72.2 yards a game. If you can't stop the run, you can't win, and Jacksonville is a brick wall. Colts come to town. Tackle somebody, boys.

  7. 7 ▲4

4-2 and Joe Burrow just hung 35-13 on Baltimore. That's two straight wins and a +41 differential. Run D is 20th at 116.3 a game, so tighten that up. Titans are next.

  8. 8 ▲5

4-3 but +43, and that 20-3 stomping of Chiefs was gorgeous. Run D is 6th at 89.4 a game. Sam Darnold gets the Bears on Monday. Stay in your seats for this one.

  9. 9 ▲5

5-2 and W3 with Aaron Rodgers, grinding out 16-10 over New Orleans. Run D is 7th at 91.0 a game. Not pretty, plenty tough. Browns in the Steel City is my kind of football.

  10. 10 ▲2
    Detroit Lions 4-2

4-2, W2, and a perfect 3-0 at home. They edged Green Bay 20-17. Now the unbeaten Vikings roll in. Jared Goff has the stage. Run D is 12th at 99.2 a game, so hold the line.

  11. 11 ▲4
    Denver Broncos 5-2

5-2, W3, and 3-0 at home. They won 30-16 at Arizona. But the run D is 28th at 133.3 a game, and Kansas City is coming. That leak will get exposed. Bring a mop.

  12. 12 ▼5

4-3 and +17, but they have lost 24-30 to Chicago last week. Run D is 8th at 95.3 a game, which I respect. Only 1-3 away from home, though. Miami next, no excuses.

  13. 13 ▲3

5-2 and W2 on a couple of tight wins, 27-24 at Tennessee and 13-10 over Baltimore. Minus-13 point differential says smoke and mirrors. Run D is 19th at 116.0. Pittsburgh will tell me the truth.

  14. 14 ▲3
    New York Giants 4-2-1

4-2-1 and they just won 27-21 in overtime at Houston. J.J. McCarthy keeps finding ways. Run D is 25th at 128.1 a game, so they live dangerously. Bye week, so go heal that defense.

  15. 15 ▼7

4-3 and fell 17-20 at Detroit. Jordan Love and company were rolling after that 31-7 win over Chicago. Run D is 17th at 115.0 a game, pure average. Carolina on Thursday should help.

  16. 16 ▼7

4-3 and L2, with a 13-35 loss to Cincinnati last time out. Tyler Huntley is not going to scare anyone. Run D is a solid 9th at 96.6, so the offense has to show up. Buffalo is next.

  17. 17 ▲5
    Atlanta Falcons 3-4

3-4, but they just beat San Francisco 29-20, which is no small thing. Run D is 4th at 88.9 a game, and I love that. Only 1-3 at home, though. Tampa next. Protect the house.

  18. 18 ▲3

3-4 and +11, with a 35-21 win at Vegas last time. Matthew Stafford finally got going. Run D is 18th at 115.7, so not a wall. The winless Chargers come to town. Do not trip.

  19. 19 ▲1
    Dallas Cowboys 3-4

3-4 and they just smashed Philadelphia 38-21. Cute. Run D is 31st at 145.7 yards a game, which is a parade route. Arizona comes to town, so maybe they get away with it.

  20. 20 ▲9

2-5, but they just hung 43-13 on Carolina and the run D is 2nd at 77.3 yards a game. If you can't stop the run, you can't win, and they can. Odd 0-4 at home though. Fix that, fellas.

  21. 21 ▼11

3-3 but that 13-43 loss to Tampa was a mess. The run D is dead last, 32nd at 153.2 yards a game. Can't stop the run, can't win. Packers on Thursday will do the carving.

  22. 22 ▼3
    Houston Texans 2-5

2-5 and 0-4 at home. They lost to the Giants 21-27 in overtime. Run D is 11th at 98.0 a game, which is fine, so the rest has to get better. Bye week. Think about what you've done.

  23. 23 ▼5

3-4 and L4, with Kirk Cousins stuck in a rut. Run D is 30th at 141.9 yards a game. That's a lot of free yards. The Jets are next. Somebody tackle somebody.

  24. 24 ▼1
    New York Jets 2-5

2-5 and L2, including a 25-28 loss to Miami. Geno Smith needs a spark. Run D is 24th at 127.7 a game. The Raiders are in town, so a win is on the table. Grab it.

  25. 25 ▼1

2-5 with the worst point differential in the league at -66. Lost 16-30 to Denver last week. 0-3 at home. Jacoby Brissett is doing what he can. Run D is 23rd at 126.3. Dallas is next.

  26. 26 ▼1

2-5 and 0-3 at home. Lost 10-16 to Pittsburgh. Run D is 29th at 139.4 yards a game, which is a problem. Bye week. Spend it in the film room, not at the buffet.

  27. 27 ▼1

2-5 and L3. Daniel Jones and the offense scored just 10 at Minnesota. Run D is 22nd at 124.0 a game. Jacksonville has that 1st-ranked run D waiting. Brace yourselves.

  28. 28 –

1-4-1 and 0-4 on the road. Jayden Daniels has not gotten much help. Run D is a decent 14th at 100.5 a game, so the offense is the problem. Philly comes to town. Take the win.

  29. 29 ▲2
    Miami Dolphins 1-5

1-5 but they got a 28-25 win at the Jets last week. Malik Willis got them a W. Run D is 16th at 110.2 a game. New England is next, and that's a real test.

  30. 30 ▼3

2-5 and L5, a total tailspin. Lost 21-38 to Dallas last time. Jalen Hurts is working hard. Run D is 27th at 131.4 a game. Washington on Sunday is a must-win.

  31. 31 ▼1

1-6 and 0-4 at home. They lost 24-27 to Cleveland last week. Cam Ward is learning the hard way. Run D is 26th at 131.1 yards a game. Cincinnati is next, and that's rough.

  32. 32 –

0-6 and the only winless team in the league. That's L6. Justin Herbert has been stuck with a -61 differential. Run D is 21st at 123.8. The Rams are next. Please, win one.
