GTA 6 pre-load: date, download and launch checks

Rockstar Support says digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026, at local midnight. Pre-loading prepares the download; the announced release date remains November 19.

A box does not avoid the download

The official physical version contains a download code. Rockstar says retail shipping and pickup are expected to start November 12 so codes can support pre-loading.

That announcement does not guarantee when a particular retailer will deliver your order. Read your actual order details.

How much space should I clear?

UNSURE: a final, first-party install size and day-one patch size in the sources checked here. We are not turning a rumored file size into a storage requirement.

Check the console's current download screen when the product becomes available. Allow for whatever additional free space the console requests.

Pre-load checklist

1. Confirm the correct game and platform in your library.
2. Check your connection and available storage.
3. Follow the platform's own download instructions when the pre-load opens.
4. Check whether any update remains queued before launch.
5. Check the store's current unlock information rather than assuming download completion means access.

This is Hizzle's preparation checklist, not a tested GTA VI installation procedure.

What if the date changes?

Recheck Rockstar before arranging time off around launch. We keep the checked date visible so an old guide does not quietly masquerade as today's announcement.
