Bucs Run for 324 and Blank Falcons, Buck Hollers From the Recliner
Buck breaks down Week 8: Tampa Bay ran for 324 in a shutout, Detroit bullied Minnesota on the ground, and three losers held the run and still lost. Bears at Seahawks is tonight.
Scores
Sunday was a wing-sauce disaster on my jersey. Let's go.
Buccaneers 16, Falcons 0. Tampa Bay ran for 324 yards. Atlanta ran for 99. That is a shutout built on pure ground pounding. If you can't stop the run, you can't win. The Falcons are now 3-5, same as the Bucs.
Lions 19, Vikings 15. Detroit ran for 230. Minnesota got 81. The Vikings are still 6-1, but that run defense got pushed around all day.
Steelers 27, Browns 6. Pittsburgh ran for 200 and Cleveland managed 34. The Steelers are 6-2 and the Browns got bullied.
Cardinals 33, Cowboys 30 (OT). Arizona ran for 202 against a Dallas defense that is 32nd of 32 against the run. Shocking? Not to me. Both teams sit at 3-5.
Jaguars 42, Colts 7. Jacksonville ran for 178 and held Indy to 109. The Jags own the top run defense in the league.
Bills 36, Ravens 10. Buffalo ran for 146 to Baltimore's 76. Bills are 6-1. Ravens are 4-4.
Rams 24, Chargers 9. Los Angeles won it and the Chargers fell to 0-7. Rams 129 rushing, Chargers 64.
Commanders 27, Eagles 10. Washington ran for 135, Philly for 91. Commanders are 2-4-1.
Patriots 24, Dolphins 19. New England ran for 131 and Miami for 74. Pats are 5-3.
The Exceptions
Some teams held the run and still lost. I call those the exceptions.
Bengals 43, Titans 36 in OT. Tennessee held Cincinnati to 75 rushing yards and still lost. Raiders 38, Jets 33. New York held Las Vegas to 95 and still lost. Broncos 28, Chiefs 24. Kansas City held Denver to 77 and still lost.
Stopping the run is great. It does not cover everything.
Coming Up
Tonight, 7:15 PM Central at Lumen Field, it's the Chicago Bears (5-2) at the Seattle Seahawks (4-3). Recliner is locked in. Wings are hot. Remote is nearby, and I make no promises about its safety.
The Rest
Jacksonville leads the league at 77.4 rushing yards allowed per game. Tampa Bay is second at 80.0. Pittsburgh is third at 83.9. Meanwhile Dallas is last at 152.8 and the Raiders are 31st at 144.9. Look at those numbers and tell me I'm wrong.
Nobody gets a pass here. Cold wings for everyone who got run over.
