PUBG Esports 2027: New Regions, Four Phases, and India Joins In
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS esports splits its regions, adds India, and runs four Phases in 2027, each with Regional Leagues feeding a PGS event, per the developers' Steam post.
Big structural news for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS esports. The developers say 2027 brings a new competitive structure, with updated regions and four Phases across the year. The stated goal: more teams competing for a place on the global stage.
The Region Shuffle
Here are the numbers. EMEA gets divided into three: Europe, Eurasia, and MENA. The Americas split into two: North America and South America. India joins as a brand new competitive region.
Count that up. Existing regions get carved into five, and a sixth-flavor newcomer arrives. The post calls India home to a massive community of PUBG fans and players, and says the change creates more opportunities for teams to reach the global stage.
Four Phases, Four Chances
The year runs in four Phases, Phase 1 through Phase 4. Each Phase has Regional Leagues plus the matching PUBG Global Series (PGS). So Phase 1 goes Regional League: Phase 1, then PGS: Phase 1. The pattern continues from there.
The race to qualify for PGS starts in each Regional League. Established teams and new challengers compete at the regional level, and those results decide who advances.
What It Means For You
If you watch, expect new rivalries and new contenders. The developers promise more stories unfolding all year. If you play, smaller regions should mean more teams in the spotlight. That's my read, not a promise from the post.
What We Don't Know
The source text I have cuts off right after Phase 1. So I can't tell you the rest of the Phase breakdown. There are no dates, prize details, team counts, or formats here, and I won't make any up. Which region sends how many teams to PGS? The text I have doesn't say.
My Take
Splitting big regions is a bold move. More regions means more local heroes. I like it. I'd like it more with a full schedule and slot counts on the table. A structure with no numbers is a patch note that says "various fixes."
Read the patch notes. Then read them again.
