WARDOGS how to play with friends: join the same server, choose the same faction and confirm the same squad. The published shortcut is Steam's Join Game on a friend already playing. Space and server eligibility still matter; it is not a guaranteed group queue.

Join and check the result

1. Have one player enter a suitable server and note its exact region, name/number and faction.
2. Create a squad through the in-match squad controls. Share the squad name or leader so everybody knows what to select.
3. In Steam's friends list, right-click that player and choose Join Game. If it fails, use the game's server browser to find the same row manually.
4. Check faction and squad after joining. Being on the same map is not enough if the game placed you on a rival faction or a different server instance.
5. If space or balancing prevents grouping, agree another eligible server before buying expensive equipment. Check the current browser rules instead of repeatedly switching teams.

Squad Intent is a task label

The official Season 2 notes add preset squad intentions and queued invitations/prompts. They do not announce a saved pre-match party queue. Choose a squad whose label matches the job you want, then agree the actual destination and supplies.

If the same server will not accept everyone

Check matching client version, free slots, faction restrictions and displayed ping/region eligibility. The later region-control announcement is available here through a public Steam repost; the primary X page was inaccessible during research. UNSURE: completion of that rollout, a universal current ping cap, country lists and cross-region exceptions. Steam Join Game does not establish an exemption.

The Season 2 team-switch rules also add friction in a match with a clear leader. Do not assume changing teams repeatedly restores immediate map or spawn-vehicle access.
