What to do

1. Choose an expendable enchanted book with an ordinary removable enchantment and find or make a grindstone. Keep valuable books separate.
2. Put the enchanted book into one grindstone input and leave the other input empty. Preview the ordinary book in the output.
3. Take the ordinary book and collect the released experience. The action is complete when you remove the output, not when you only open the interface.

Before you repeat it

A curse is not an ordinary removable enchantment, so use a non-cursed book for this route. Old desert-temple seed coordinates are not reliable. Do not disenchant a book you wanted to keep.

The old author explicitly cites the Wiki for the curse exception; that detail is not counted as a second independent edge-case check.
