This Deadlock beginner guide starts with one job: learn a hero, collect the souls in your lane and turn them into items before taking bigger fights. Kills help, but destroying the enemy Patron wins the match.

Your first Standard match

  1. Choose a hero you can understand. Deadlock best hero for beginners: McGinnis gives a practical starting recommendation.
  2. Use Deadlock beginner build: McGinnis first buys before the match. Read what the first purchase actually does.
  3. Follow your assigned lane. The current map has three: yellow York, blue Broadway and green Greenwich. Four-lane tutorials describe an older layout.
  4. Learn Deadlock how to deny souls: which orb to shoot while staying near cover. Chasing a damaged hero past an enemy wave can cost your own farm and health.
  5. Spend between waves, then return to collect the next one. Deadlock how to get more souls and catch up explains why a similar kill score can hide a large power gap.
  6. Move with your team into objectives. Do not keep fighting in the street after a useful push becomes available.

Judge one habit at a time

Hizzle's learning suggestion: after a match, pick one repeated mistake to fix. Were you reloading when an orb appeared? Shopping while your lane collapsed? Dashing into a fight without an escape? A specific correction gives your next match a purpose.

There is no promised number of matches until you become good. Hero familiarity, aim and learning a MOBA economy are different jobs. Use Deadlock what to do first: a practice plan for a practice order, and Deadlock patch notes: October 30 guide changes when a tutorial disagrees with your client.
