Rust Kill an Animal achievement: Defeat an ordinary wildlife animal using a suitable weapon as the published action. Plan for the encounter instead of treating the requirement as a reason to approach every animal with a spawn tool.
Use the actual result of the encounter to distinguish a completed kill from damage alone. Hizzle recommends checking the platform result before spending more resources on another attempt, and keeping a route back to the shelter.
The older author gives examples including chickens, deer, wolves and bears. Whether newer livestock/critters count identically, shared damage credit and all current server rules remain UNSURE.
Evidence and planning limits
Hizzle's provisional difficulty is 2/10, an editorial estimate from the setup. Exact completion time, server eligibility, counter resets, guest credit and every missable exception remain UNSURE. This basic route has no established paid-DLC requirement. Console Edition has a different catalogue; UNSURE: console trigger parity. Current patch review does not prove an unlock works on every server. Hizzle has not tested this in-game.
