Rust On the Record achievement: record another player's voice onto a cassette. Single source: the published method uses a Cassette Recorder and tape; the primary item description confirms recording and playback actions.

Check that the tape contains the other voice

  1. Obtain a Cassette Recorder and insert a cassette.
  2. Ask another player to speak through in-game voice while you activate the recorder's current recording action.
  3. Stop recording, play the tape back and check that the other player's voice is audible. Then inspect achievement credit.

The checked recorder recipe is 75 Metal Fragments at Workbench Level 1. A Short Cassette craft costs 50 Metal Fragments, yields five tapes and requires no workbench in the checked table; each short tape stores up to 10 seconds. These are separate crafts, not 50 fragments for a complete recorder.

Your own microphone, a nearby radio and a friend's voice are different audio sources. The goal names another player speaking. Hizzle recommends a brief plain spoken test so you can distinguish a working recording from silence. Exact microphone settings, distance and cross-team credit remain UNSURE; no driver reinstall is prescribed as an achievement fix.

Plan the attempt

Equipment/DLC: Recorder and cassette are Voice Props equipment. Borrowing access is not treated as universal gesture entitlement.

Other players: Another speaking player is explicitly required.

Hizzle's 2/10 difficulty is an editorial setup estimate, not a tested rating. Completion time, current server eligibility, reset scope and every missable exception remain UNSURE. Steam places this entry in its public group; the shared card's Base game label does not mean the equipment is free of DLC. Console Edition has a separate catalogue. Hizzle has not tested this in-game.

UNSURE marks what this guide hasn't established. Hizzle Guides research from public sources; we don't claim in-game testing unless a page says so.
