Make movement, targeting and boss cues readable before adding a complicated skill setup. The settings recommendations here are Single source community advice plus Hizzle's adjustment checklist, not benchmark results.
Make the fight readable
- Reduce camera shake and motion blur if they make attacks harder to follow.
- Enable the boss-facing indicator under Information Display > Combat, as described by the community reference.
- Put movement, sprint and defensive actions on keys you can reach without looking down.
- Check target scanning. A front-of-camera preference can make target selection more predictable.
- Review Pursue Targets with Skill Activation. The reference recommends disabling it so an out-of-range skill does not automatically move you toward danger.
Hizzle's recommendation: learn what each option changes before adopting someone else's entire settings list. In particular, automatic targeting can be convenient while questing and distracting when you need to hold one specific enemy.
Macros: keep decisions available
The game has an in-client skill macro system. The reference recommends keeping emergency defenses and important long cooldowns under manual control. A convenient attack sequence is not a reason to surrender the button you need to survive.
Use only the game's own supported controls. This page does not recommend external automation or an unattended combat tool.
If the game feels slow
Change one graphics option, revisit the same area and compare. Start with crowd detail in busy towns and visual effects in fights. Record the previous value so you can reverse a change that makes attacks less legible. Hizzle has not measured an FPS gain and does not promise one.
NC's FAQ officially supports Windows PC. It says controller play is not officially supported and does not promise Linux or Steam Deck support. A device running a client is different from a supported configuration.
