Slay the Spire 2 card removal normally starts at 75 gold and rises by 25 per use; with Ascension 6+ Inflation, it starts at 100 and rises by 50. These are the checked reference prices before any relevant modifiers. Read the actual shop price before spending.
The first three purchases
- Ascension 0–5: 75, then 100, then 125 gold.
- Ascension 6+: 100, then 150, then 200 gold.
The game-data merchant reference supplies the price rules. The original-game shop, an old Beta discussion and a modded run are not interchangeable contexts.
Remove a card that has lost its job
If stronger attacks already cover damage, a weak starter attack may be a useful removal. If damage remains scarce but defense is abundant, removing an attack can be the wrong trade. Check actual replacements, enchantments and relic interactions before deciding that every Strike or Defend is equally disposable.
Single source for detailed current shop pricing: Spire Codex’s published extraction is the main numerical reference used here. The situational purchase advice is supported by specialist discussion; it does not make every shop outcome independently verified.
Compare the opportunity cost
Before buying removal, inspect the card, potion and relic options. A potion that makes the next elite survivable or a card that supplies missing damage can matter more than a cleaner future shuffle. Conversely, a deck that already has enough answers but keeps drawing filler has a different problem.
Hizzle suggests deciding which upcoming fight the purchase helps. Do not spend the whole budget on removal just because an old guide says “always.” UNSURE: every price-changing relic, event and mod interaction; the current displayed price takes priority.
