Slay the Spire 2 how to play the beta branch: choose public-beta in the game’s Steam properties, then let Steam finish updating before you launch. Main and Beta can contain different card values, enemies and save behavior.

Windows steps

  1. Close the game and open your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click Slay the Spire 2 and open Properties.
  3. Open Game Versions & Betas, or the equivalent Betas page in your Steam client.
  4. Select public-beta. Wait for the download or update to finish.
  5. Launch and check the displayed version before following a build.

The community maintainer’s documentation supplies the branch-selection path; the public community FAQ names the opt-in branch. Client wording may vary. To return to default play, select the default/no-beta option and let Steam update again.

The checked versions

At this check, Main is 0.107.1 and Beta is 0.111.0. Mega Crit plans the next major Beta content update for November 12, alongside a Main catch-up to the then-current Beta changes. A plan is not evidence that the update has already shipped.

One meaningful example: Beta 0.111.0 changes Expect a Fight from an Energy-generation card into a 3-Energy Block card. A Main build that uses the old Energy effect cannot be transferred by keeping only the card’s name.

Before switching an existing setup

Record the branch and mods used by an ongoing run. Keep a backup before experimenting with valuable saves. UNSURE: every downgrade and mod compatibility case; Hizzle does not promise that switching branches preserves every unfinished run or installed mod unchanged.
