Slay the Spire 2 what to do first: begin an ordinary run with Ironclad, inspect the starting reward and choose an opening route with a recovery option. Hizzle recommends making a small number of deliberate choices before copying a finished deck list.

The opening checklist

  1. Check your branch and version so card advice matches the run.
  2. Read the starting relic or Ancient offer, including any immediate payment or lasting downside.
  3. Look ahead to the nearest difficult fight, shop and rest site. Pick a route you can change if the first rewards are weak.
  4. Use early card rewards to improve damage and defense you can deploy now.
  5. Inspect your potions before entering the difficult fight. A potion that prevents a failed run has done its job.

What to leave for later

Do not judge the run only by whether a famous rare card appeared. A reward that needs several absent pieces can consume draws without helping your current fights. Start tracking a build direction when the deck has a way to make and use its resource.

Equally, do not erase every starter attack merely because a tier list ranks it poorly. If the replacements have not arrived, removing damage can make an elite take longer and cost more health.

A useful first-session finish

After the run ends, inspect the character screen and Timeline. The published unlock chain advances by ending runs with the required character; it does not demand an Act 3 victory for each new class. Keep the learning run and the account unlock as separate goals.

The sequence above is Hizzle’s editorial checklist. It gives a structure for learning, not a fixed number of elites, floors or minutes required to win.
