AION 2 how to get Clash Runes: complete your faction's rune-rewarding Regional quests, then check the Nightmare Trade Shop for replacement chests. The checked global guide reports two rune slots, 40 item level per base rune and a chest costing 500 Phantasmal Fragments.

Single source for the detailed quest/price reference: the route below comes from a community global guide. Separate player discussions corroborate quest supply and replacement shopping, but do not establish every live unlock condition or current stock limit. The guide is dated October 10; November 4's official notes were reviewed without finding a named change to these rune rules. Inspect the live quest reward and shop price before spending.

Regional quests to check

The reference lists four quests per faction. Follow your own faction's list; these are not eight repeatable rewards for one character.

Elyos Asmodians
Cursed Blue Mineral The Future Within the Past
Zumion's Call: Part Two Hugo Mercenaries: An Old Promise
All Work and No Play Fallout
Kraka Pond Pests Another Survivor

For the first Elyos lead, check Hiru near Aullaeu Village; the first Asmodian lead names Harald in Uruthumheim. The reference recommends around level 30 for those starting quests. Recommended level is not a promise the quest is available without its story prerequisites.

  1. Review Regional quests and the reward preview for the Clash Rune Chest. Continue the associated story chain if the quest is not yet offered.
  2. Open the chest only after checking the named contents. Side rewards and exact scroll counts vary between older explanations, so they are not promised here.
  3. Equip the rune in an empty rune slot; owning one in the bag is not the same as using its stats.
  4. Check the other slot before spending on risky enhancements. Two base 40 runes contribute 80 item-level points by the reference's values; that is Hizzle's arithmetic, not 80 character levels.
  5. Revisit later Regional quests as the story advances. The guide associates later rune quests with Episode 6 progression; reaching a character level alone does not unlock every listed reward.

Replacing a rune you broke

The reference and player replies point to a Clash Rune Chest at the Nightmare Trade Shop, reported at 500 Phantasmal Fragments. Nightmare is described as level 45 solo content. Sources differ over whether 1,000 item level is the unlock or an early challenge recommendation, so the exact gate remains UNSURE. Check the actual content window and shop.

Do not conclude the account is permanently stuck after one failed enhancement. Finish available Regional quests and inspect replacement sources. Equally, do not plan an unlimited same-day replacement loop: stock, attempt availability, exact current unlocks and seasonal alternatives are UNSURE in this audit. A reply calling stock unlimited is not a complete farm-rate measurement.

The upgrade risk that ordinary gear advice misses

The rune guide reports 100% success from +0 to +1, then 80% for an attempt to reach +2, with destruction on failure from that step onward. Players separately report losing quest runes while attempting +2. These are dated community references, not a guarantee of your current preview.

Hizzle's recommendation: fill both slots first and preserve a usable pair. If you later risk an enhancement, use a spare you can afford to lose. Check the displayed success rate and destruction warning every time. Ordinary equipment's safe-upgrade range in AION 2 gear upgrades: belt, amulet and spending does not automatically apply to a rune.

If the preview still shows 80%, the failure chance is 20%, or one in five for that attempt. That arithmetic does not predict the result of your next click or imply a guaranteed success after five attempts. Exact live upgrade fees and the full higher-rank table remain UNSURE. No in-game enhancement testing by Hizzle.
