AION 2 Soul Binding: Use Bind to improve the strength of existing Soul Binding lines, Sync to replace a selected line and Reset/Rebind to start the item's lines over. Before paying, decide whether the item itself is worth keeping and which result would make you stop spending.
These are the actions described by community global references. UNSURE: the complete current-global spending method, exact live costs, post-100% editing and transfer restrictions. Sources disagree on important details. November 4's full notes and hotfix were reviewed; neither describes a Soul Binding rule change. Hizzle has not tested this in-game.
Which action fits my problem?
| What you see | Action to inspect | Decision before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Useful lines with low displayed values | Bind/rate increase | Keep the effects; compare the rate and material cost |
| One unwanted line beside useful ones | Sync | Select the unwanted line; inspect the replacement pool and consumed material |
| An item whose lines mostly miss your build | Reset/Rebind | Accept losing the good lines too, or keep the item as it is |
| A long-term Unique piece at 100% | Soul Fuse/extra line | Inspect eligibility and whether that extra line survives your intended transfer |
| A replacement item with a bigger headline number | Compare first | Count lost skill ranks and useful effects before consuming either piece |
The owl's workshop is a teaching cartoon, not the game's interface. The two tools remind you to check the scope of the action before pressing its confirmation button.
Read the item before rolling
Aion2.gg's October 28 client-data reference lists different random-property counts even among Unique items of the same item level. Color alone does not tell you how many lines an item gets or which effects it can roll. Read the exact item's pool; a stat on somebody else's weapon is not proof it exists on yours.
Hizzle's comparison sheet: note the full item name, slot, class, binding state, useful effects, skill bonuses and intended replacement. For a skill-dependent build, compare the resulting total rank with its required Specialty. A higher item level can still leave a different skill setup. Use the relevant page in AION 2 best class for beginners: group and solo before deciding which line is expendable.
A controlled first attempt
- Open Enhancement and inspect Soul Binding for the intended item. LUM's guide identifies this menu; confirm the item name rather than relying on its icon.
- Write down the line you want to change, or the rate you want to raise. Take your own before screenshot if useful.
- Read the displayed materials, Kina cost, eligible outcomes and any warnings. For Sync, the global-client guide describes a percentage button for the replacement pool. A possible outcome is not a promised outcome.
- Check the material item as carefully as the target. Save useful equipment until its intended role is clear.
- Make one deliberate attempt if the preview matches your plan. Reopen the result and cost before continuing. Stop at your budget, even if the next roll might be better.
Hizzle recommends this small-batch approach because a reroll can remain unwanted. It is a budgeting method, not a claim that single attempts improve the game's odds. Do not enable an automatic spender on the strength of a Korean guide: 6Sword explicitly leaves global automatic Sync availability unconfirmed.
What do Bind and Rebind cost?
Two client-data guides report the following Unique-grade reference: a first Bind cost of 10 Soul Codices and 30,000 Kina, and a Rebind attempt of 3 Soul Codex: Reset and 300,000 Kina. Aion2.gg identifies client 2.0.9.0, extracted October 28. Treat these as historical table values; current live totals are UNSURE until the selected item's preview agrees.
Later Bind steps have different costs. Adding the published cost ladder does not establish a guaranteed price to reach 100%. The Taiwan rulebook describes random rate results that do not fall below the existing rate; that regional rule is not a measured global attempt distribution. Hizzle does not promise ten attempts, a fixed Codex budget or a cheapest route to perfect gear.
Set your own cap in both currencies and stop when either would be exceeded. For example, a 300,000-Kina preview repeated three times consumes 900,000 Kina if each shown cost remains unchanged. That is conditional arithmetic, not three guaranteed improvements.
Where can I get Codices before spending on rerolls?
Check the current event rewards before buying spare equipment. Soul Codex and Soul Codex: Reset serve different actions, so count the named book rather than treating every reward icon as another reroll.
Ludra Twitch Drops, checked November 4: NC's announcement was updated on October 30 to bundle some rewards into chests. Its current track lists one Soul Codex Chest (Bound) at six hours watched, containing 15 Soul Codex (Bound) and 6 Soul Codex: Reset (Bound). The eight-hour reward is six Odyle Energy (Bound), not another Codex bundle. Older separate book timings should not replace the updated track.
The announced campaign runs November 4 at 06:00 PST through November 17 at 23:59 PST, equivalent to November 4 at 14:00 UTC through November 18 at 07:59 UTC. Open NC's official Twitch Drops page for the current campaign, account connection and claim instructions. Hizzle has not claimed the rewards or checked delivery in-game; the published track does not promise an immediate delivery time for every account.
Atreia's Call attendance: the official October 28 notice lists three Soul Codex: Reset (Bound) on Day 3 and another three on Day 17. Open Attendance in the in-game menu and check your own track position. NC says attendance rewards are once per server and go directly to inventory. Do not confuse a track's Day 17 with the seventeenth of the calendar month.
The notice resets attendance at 12:00 AM PT. Its two closing lines disagree between December 1 and December 2 maintenance, so the exact closing cutoff is UNSURE. Use the in-game event end time instead of assuming the later date gives you an extra claim. This attendance track is separate from Ludra's seven-reward check-in.
Hizzle's book-budget check: if your Unique Rebind preview still asks for three Reset books and 300,000 Kina, six Reset books cover two attempts and 600,000 Kina in fees. Those attempts can still miss your desired lines. The 15 ordinary Codices in the Twitch chest do a different job; they are not 15 extra Rebinds or a promise of 100% binding rate.
Read the exact item, action and currency cost together. Budget for the Kina fee shown in your preview even when an event supplies the books. Neither event establishes a cheaper Sync material rule.
Three percentages, three questions
Read the label beside a percentage before deciding what it promises:
| Label or context | Question it answers | What it does not promise |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Binding Rate | How developed are this item's binding effects? | A chance to obtain the effect you want |
| Sync Success Chance | Will this selected material make the Sync operation succeed? | Your preferred replacement line |
| Chance beside a replacement effect | How likely is that outcome in the displayed pool? | A guaranteed result after a set number of attempts |
Single source for the captured example: Timesaver describes Unique-material captures showing 100% Sync success while the new effect remains random. Hizzle has not independently checked that capture's exact setup. Treat it as an explanation of two different readouts, not a promise that every material works at 100%.
Hizzle's hypothetical odds example: suppose the operation succeeds every time, the wanted effect has a fixed 2% chance on each independent attempt, and there is no pity rule. After 50 attempts, the chance of at least one wanted result is 63.6%, leaving 36.4% with none. The average waiting time is 50 attempts; that average is not a guarantee by attempt 50.
Those are invented example odds, calculated as 1 - 0.98^50, not an AION 2 drop table or measured roll history. Your item's pool, exclusions and any live rules can differ. A failed chase does not establish a bug, but this example also cannot prove that a particular game's rolls are working correctly.
Can spare boots be Sync material for another slot?
Single source: Raid Relay reports checking a +7 Vakron Guard with +5 Vakron Boots as material on its global characters. This supports cross-slot material use for that reported setup. It does not require you to enhance spare boots to +5, nor establish a benefit from doing so.
Keep the target and consumed material separate in your plan. Do not sacrifice a useful replacement merely because the material selector accepts it. Compare the full item's possible roles before converting it to a stone or feeding it to Sync.
UNSURE: the cheapest material that preserves your intended success chance. Raid Relay says its check used item-level-70 material and warns that item level can affect the chance. AION 2 Tier List also says a higher material item level can help. EliteGrind instead says material item level does not matter; its page does not establish a current-global region/build for that claim. This disagreement is not resolved by two sites repeating a client table.
Inspect the Success Chance with each exact candidate before paying extra for higher-level material or buying the cheapest one. Neither higher item level nor a more expensive listing proves a better chance of your desired stat. Cross-character eligibility remains separate: this example does not establish that an alt's bound drop can be consumed by your main.
Does 100% permanently lock the lines?
UNSURE for the current global client. LUM says the lines are permanently locked at 100%. NC's Taiwan rulebook explicitly allows editing the added line afterwards and says Sync or Reset can change its rate. SenseOS also recommends Sync after raising the rate, while other global guides recommend fixing effects first.
These accounts are not an agreed global sequence. Do not max an unwanted item because a guide says its problems can definitely be fixed later, and do not claim that 100% makes all future edits impossible. Check your actual available actions, warnings and costs. Hizzle's conservative choice is to postpone expensive rate polishing while you already intend to replace the effects or the entire piece.
Resetting effects does not restore market eligibility. The global references distinguish rerolling properties from removing the item's character binding. Treat bound equipment as committed to that character; verify any alternate-character material plan separately.
Should I buy the Soul Fuse line now?
The global-client guide reports an additional effect on eligible Unique equipment at 100%, with a reference cost of 2 Philosopher's Stones: Revelation and 1,000,000 Kina. Single source for that precise global recipe, not a guaranteed current quote. Taiwan excludes quest equipment and randomizes the added effect; do not import every regional exception or roll rule as confirmed global behavior.
The same global reference says Soul Fuse effects do not transfer. Hizzle therefore recommends checking your planned replacement before funding the extra line. An added line is not automatically the stat you wanted, and the required binding rate does not prove a free extra manastone socket is active on your item.
NC's October 21 global notes identify a real source for Philosopher's Stone: Revelation (Bound): Hard Krao Cave and Hard Draupnir offer a chance drop and a selectable guaranteed reward. Their entry requirement is 2,600 item level. That is not a promise of a stone on every clear or from every Hard dungeon. November 4's hotfix removes unintended Hard choices for Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den; use the correct dungeon and inspect its reward menu.
Keep a transfer checklist
Before consuming a donor, compare the destination's actual retained and lost effects. The global-client guide warns that fewer destination lines can mean only a random subset survives. A preferred skill line should not be treated as safe merely because some Soul Binding effects transfer.
SenseOS's detailed same-grade inheritance discussion is explicitly Taiwan-based; it also says that service has unlimited inheritance. Another guide claims a global seasonal limit. UNSURE: the current global limit, every eligible donor/destination pair and exact post-transfer values. NC changed crafted/Expedition transfer paths on October 28, so an old blanket restriction can be stale. Keep both items if the preview leaves a required effect ambiguous.
The notXeon video now flags an update in its title. Its creator's pinned comment explains that item-level-70 dungeon gear can transfer into item-level-70 crafted gear, correcting the video's earlier higher-item-level requirement. Read that alongside NC's October 28 Expedition-to-crafted exceptions. It does not mean every pair of level-70 items is eligible. The creator says the rest of his advice remains applicable; Hizzle has not independently established every step or its November 4 live costs. A current title alone would have missed this narrower correction.
What evidence would settle the gaps?
A useful current-global record would identify the region, patch, exact target and donor, show the pre-confirmation costs and warnings, then show the resulting line/rate or transfer. That would help distinguish a live rule from a regional translation or client table. It would not by itself establish every item's odds or a complete optimized build.
