AION 2 how to block: use an equipped defensive skill your class actually has; there is no universal held guard key for every class. Passive Block/Parry checks and the separate Dodge action do different jobs.

Find the defense your class uses

Class Named active defense What to check
Templar Shield of Protection Block window and Block Damage Reduction
Gladiator Focused Block Parry effect rather than assuming a shield block
Chanter Focused Defense Its temporary defensive effect and resource recovery
Assassin Evasion Stance Evasion; this is not ordinary Block

The complete comparison is Single source community guidance. The Templar skill record supports its Block effect, but one skill description does not verify every class or every incoming attack. Stigma skills begin opening at level 22 in the checked references; a lower-level character can have defensive stats before having this active option.

Put the skill where you can use it

  1. Open your available Stigma skills and inspect the exact defensive effect. A similarly named passive is not a hotbar action.
  2. Equip the relevant skill within your available Stigma slots, then assign a reachable hotbar key. Changing a keybind does not grant a missing skill.
  3. Read its duration, cooldown and recovery effect in your current tooltip. The defensive window is limited; do not use it merely because combat has started.
  4. Watch an attack you recognize and activate the skill while its protection can cover the hit. Keep movement available if the mechanic instead requires leaving an area or reaching cover.
  5. Check the resulting defensive event or buff before building another skill interaction around it. If the effect never activates, check the equipped skill and the attack's eligibility before buying more Block gear.

These are Hizzle's setup and troubleshooting steps, not an in-game timing test. Exact ideal timing, latency effects and which boss attacks qualify remain UNSURE.

Why Block sometimes happens without pressing anything

Passive defensive checks depend on your stats, the attack and opposing stats. A passive Block appearing during ordinary combat does not mean you accidentally found a universal guard button. Equally, an active defensive skill does not establish immunity to every mechanic.

For Templar, AION 2 Templar build: Judgment and Block explains why a successful Block matters to Fury. That interaction needs the Block event; pressing another defensive buff is not automatically a substitute. Use AION 2 Gladiator build: Overhead Slam or AION 2 Chanter build: Dark Crush for the corresponding learning setups.

If you cannot find a block button

Check your class and level first, then the equipped Stigma and assigned hotbar action. A Ranger or caster does not acquire a Templar skill by copying its keyboard layout. Use your own movement, recovery and defensive kit, and read the encounter's actual response.

Do not try to solve Krao's wave with a generic Block assumption: AION 2 Krao Cave guide: Normal bosses and Berk calls for rock cover and a separate stagger response. A defensive-stat formula is also not a boss-mechanic solution. Hizzle has not benchmarked damage reduction or tested any timing in-game.
