Installs
Installs are the hex grid of upgrades on each ship. Spend rank points where the multiplier helps most.

- Open the install, then tap Install This Upgrade. It costs 1 rank point and takes effect at once.
- At cap the button stays but does nothing. Read the level, not the button.
- Locked installs say "requirement not met" and name how many levels you need in earlier installs.
- Eleven installs per ship, laid out top, middle, bottom. Four corner installs open after 100 points.
- Match installs by name and effect, not by position. Community numbering differs from the in-game grid.
- Allocation rule of thumb: open each useful new install with 1 point, then put points where the next level multiplies the most. See Install Math.
- Weight installs that cover many generator tiers higher than installs that cover one.
- Specialize by run type: MP installs for short runs, shard installs for long runs.
- After a research that raises install caps (around 1e500 Research Points in community guides), specialization gets much stronger. See Koios Research.
