When to Do a Loop Reset

Reset when the early burst of MP is over and the tail is slower than starting fresh. Data from one account.

Mid game · loop reset, timing, mp · updated 2026-10-25

Short answer: reset at the first moment the button unlocks, once your run is past the early fill burst. (From one account's logs, runs 194 to 202, Oct 2026. Treat as account-specific.)

Why:

  • Most of a run's MP arrives early. About 70 to 85 percent of final MP was in by minute 17 to 20 in measured runs. One run only had 50 percent.
  • The tail of a run earns far less per hour than the run average.
  • Waiting for one more fill gave about 55 oc of MP in 10 minutes. Resetting and rebuilding gave about 218 oc in the same 10 minutes (oc = 1e27 MP).

Rules:

  1. Never reset a run younger than about 20 minutes. Let the early burst finish.
  2. Do not reset if a big purchase is close. Tech and evolutions are examples.
  3. Do not reset if a Shard milestone is affordable. Spend shards first. See Before You Reset.
  4. Do not reset if you are about to finish a campaign or research. Compare the loss.
  5. If the next requirement is above what you can fill, wait. See Loops and Mod Points.
  6. Mix in longer runs for shards. See Short Runs vs Long Runs.

Run length grows as you progress. One account went from about 60 minutes to about 160 minutes between runs 194 and 200 (roughly 16 minutes more per reset). Later runs there stretched far longer, but part of that was a bot failure, not the game. A run that gets much longer than your usual is a warning sign. See Troubleshooting Slow Progress.
